While the general physiotherapist often treats patients to restore the general day-to-day physical activities of the body, the sports physio goes one step further. They get to deal with clients who are serious about being actively involved in sports, and can offer practical advice on how to get the maximum from any training regime, which leads to improved levels of performance on the tennis court, or football pitch.

The sports physio is also involved in showing how sports can be used as a therapy, especially in the more vulnerable groups such as children or the elderly.
